Brave Space Alliance (BSA) is a pioneering organization based in Chicago, dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular focus on trans and gender-nonconforming individuals. As the first Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ center located on Chicago's South Side, BSA aims to bridge a significant gap in the availability of culturally competent, affirming resources and services for these communities. Recognizing the lack of LGBTQ+ social services and advocacy networks, especially on the South and West sides of Chicago, BSA provides a safe, accessible space. Their efforts are particularly crucial given the limited trans-specific resources in the city, which are predominantly situated in majority-white neighborhoods on the North Side and often lead to the hyper-policing of trans people of color. BSA's mission is to create a supportive environment that caters to the needs of the entire LGBTQ+ community in Chicago.
