Prosser Career Academy Culinary Art Program Needs Our Support!

Updated: May 30

Prosser Career Academy Culinary Arts Program offers a comprehensive three-year course designed for students interested in cooking, restaurant management, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum begins with fundamental skills such as food safety, sanitation, knife skills, basic nutrition, and menu planning. As students progress, they advance to more complex food preparation, including cooking various proteins, baking, and creating sauces. The program also incorporates entrepreneurial concepts, college and career exploration, and work-based learning experiences like job shadows and internships.

Garden to Table

This Culinary Arts program extends beyond the kitchen, incorporating lessons from their community garden. Here, students learn to grow and prepare nutritious meals, fostering a deep understanding of sustainable food practices.

Canning Supplies Needed

Currently, the program faces a shortage of canning supplies, specifically 32 oz canning glass jars with lids. These jars will enable them to preserve the excess food they grow in their community garden, ensuring nothing goes to waste. This practice teaches students essential skills in food preservation and sustainability. Additionally, they learn the importance of reducing food waste, managing resources efficiently, and providing nutritious meals year-round. The jars also support their education in preparing and storing healthy, homemade food, enhancing their overall culinary expertise.
